Where is CACD (formerly SALC)?
The Center for Advising and Career Development (CACD) is located in
Lighty Rm 180. You can also contact them via phone at 335–6000.

What is SALC?
The Student and Advising Learning Center (SALC) has joined up with Career Services to provide better services to students. For more information, go to their website at CACD — About Us.

Where is the Registrar's Office?
The Registrar's Office is located in French Ad Rm 346. You can also contact them via phone at 335–5346.

Where is the School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering Office (ChEBE)?
Our office is located in Dana Hall Rm 118. You can also contact us via phone at 335–4332.

How do I apply for a scholarship?
Scholarships are available through the College of Engineering and Architecture. Scholarship awards are based on your GPA.

Will my credits transfer?
If you are a transfer student, your transfer work will be evaluated by the Admissions Office and applied to your Degree Audit Report (DARs). The Admissions Office evaluates only General Education Requirements (GERs). Your department will evaluate any courses that may fulfill departmental requirements. Also, you may be able to review your Transfer Course Equivalencies by visiting the Transfer Center website.

Undergraduate Students


Who is my advisor?
Most students receive information and advisor assignment during the summer either through Summer Alive! or via regular mail. If you have forgotten who you advisor is, you can contact CACD.

Can I change my advisor?
Yes. You can request a new advisor by contacting CACD.

What student clubs can I join?
You can check out a listing of all the student clubs available within the College of Engineering and Architecture.

Can I change my major?
Yes. You can change your major interest at any time before you are certified by contacting CACD. They will reassign you to an advisor in your new area of interest.

How do I get certified in my major?
You will automatically be certified by the ChEBE office (you may have to apply for certification in other departments) once you have completed all of the requirements which includes the eight specified courses with a C or better and a 2.0 cumulative gpa.

Can I certify a second major or minor?
Yes. You will need to fill out a "Petition for Certifying a Second Major or Minor" card available from the Registrar's Office or you can print it out from the RONet Website and return the completed form to the Registrar's Office.

Can I change my major even though I have certified?
Yes. You will need to fill out a "Change of Major Form" available from the Registrar's Office or you can print it out from the RONet Website and return the completed form to the Registrar's Office.

How do I apply for graduation?
You will need to fill out a "Undergraduate and Professional Degree Application" available from the Registrar's Office or from your department. Follow ALL of the instructions on the back of the application card and return the completed card to the Registrar's Office.


Graduate Students


How do I apply for Graduate School?

You can apply online or request application materials via the Graduate School website. Choose either an online application or a paper application. Not both.


What TOEFL score do you accept?
TOEFL scores must be at least 580 paper–based, 237 computer–based, and 92–93 internet–based. TOEFL scores must be sent via ETS to be considered OFFICIAL.

Do I need to send my GRE scores?
It is recommended that you send your GRE scores but they are not required. We will use the GRE scores in the evaluation process if they are submitted. Please send your GRE scores via ETS.

What is the ETS code for Washington State University?
The ETS code for Washington State University is 4705.

How many students do you admit?
The number of students admitted depends on the availability of funds.

What are the application deadlines?
All students are required to submit their application by January 10 for the Fall semester and by July 1 for the Spring semester.

Where do I send my application documents?
You need to send your documents ONLY to the Graduate School.

When will I know if I have been admitted or denied?
There is no deadline for notification. The ChEBE Graduate Studies Committee will only review your application once it is complete. Applicants for fall are usually reviewed beginning April when all applications have been received and applicants for spring are usually reviewed beginning August. Once a decision has been made by the Graduate Committee, we will inform you and the Graduate School of our recommendation. The Graduate School will send you a letter with the final decision.

Why wasn't I told that my application was incomplete?
It is the student's responsibility to ensure that their application file is complete with the Graduate School. The Graduate School is not responsible for items lost in the mail or otherwise not received. Please make sure that you fulfill all of the requirements.

Can I apply to more than one degree program?
There is no limit on how many degree programs you can apply to. However, be aware if a student is applying to more than three degree programs, our department will question whether the student is really interested in our programs.
